Only a few more days....

I'm happy to say that my fluid levels stayed adequate enough this past week to let Masyn stay inside until week 38, and now it looks like the time has come to meet this little sweetheart. I'm scheduled for delivery on Wednesday, so we are spending the weekend getting everything wrapped up and ready for a newborn baby. So excited!!!! You know I'm horrible about blog updates, but I promise to have one up not long after she makes her debut. :)

Preparing to be a Big Sister

In preparing for Masyn, we have started getting out all of the baby gadgets (like the swing, bouncer, car seat, etc) that we used with Braylin. However, Braylin thinks it's her Christmas all over again. The swing was set up in the living room, and Braylin immediately ran in with an open mouth & wide eyes saying "ooooohhhhhh, who bought this for me?" After controlling our laughter, we showed her how it works and it quickly became a swing for her babydolls. She spent at least an hour entertaining herself with this swing and her babies -- swinging them, pulling one of her chairs over to it so she could read to them, feeding them with their bottles, taking them to the bathroom to go potty, whispering because "they are sleeping, mommy. shhhhhhh".

Hopefully this love for babies carries over to when Masyn is born! :)

Baby update

Here's a quick little update on what's been going on with Masyn Kristine Langham over the past few weeks. At 28 weeks, little Masyn decided she would flip to breech presentation. This was right about the time my doctor said "sure" when I asked if we could do a 3D/4D ultrasound just for fun. We had been doing weekly ultrasounds on the labor unit while I was at work, but I was ready to see a 3D image by an ultrasound tech. Unfortunately, that "fun" ultrasound ended up getting me a trip to the perinatologist. Masyn was measuring about 2 weeks behind and my amniotic fluid index was low. My Ob was not too concerned but said I may as well see the perinatologist to confirm doppler studies (make sure bloodflow was adequate to her organs).

The perinatologist reassured us that everything looked fine with Masyn, but that she WAS measuring behind. After Braylin weighed in at 8lb 3oz on her birth day, I was shocked that they were saying Masyn might be smaller -- Usually 2nd babies are larger! But all we cared about was that baby looked good overall, and the perinatologist was not concerned. He said it appeared that her growth restriction was probably just from her breech presentation. Though he did want to continue seeing me every few weeks.

So, at 33 weeks Masyn was still looking great; however, my amniotic fluid had decreased. Since I work on the labor unit, the perinatologist knew how busy we had been and how much physical work/labor we had been having to do lately. So he put me on bedrest. I know, I know... most people kept saying "enjoy it!" but I absolutely love my job, love the girls I work with, and I'm a busy-body at home, so bedrest was not my idea of fun. That's ok though...whatever baby Masyn needed!

Now I'm at 36 weeks, drinking tons of fluid, and getting rest. Tomorrow's the big day where we find out when baby Masyn will be here. The plan is to do growth measurements and amniotic fluid index measurements tomorrow and decide whether or not we should deliver next week. Yes that's right...NEXT week! Though we are SO SO SO ready to see her and get our hands on her, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she can at least stay in 1 more week. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if she was closer to 38 weeks (at least) but if they feel it's time for her to come, then it's time. We'll have to see what they say tomorrow....

Ok so there's the update! And I must say that the plus of being on bedrest is all of my time with Braylin! She has been such a sweetheart lately, and I truly believe it's because I've been able to spend more time with her instead of at work. As much as I miss work, I have just eaten up my time with my little sweetheart. She is going to make such a great Big Sister!

First trip to the dentist

Though most kids don't need to start going to the dentist until around age 3, we figured with Uncle Ray as Braylin's dentist why not start earlier?! So, Braylin had her first dental check-up and did GREAT! She laid back in the chair, opened wide, closed when he asked her to, let him "count her teeth", brush her teeth, examine her bite, and then got to play with "Mr Thirsty." I was so proud of her!
Uncle Ray and his assistant Rebecca were so good with her

Mr Thirsty -- who knew a suction tube & a cup of water could be so entertaining

Gymnastics

Since Braylin was 18 months old, she has been going to gymnastics weekly at Jill's Gymmastics. I thought it would be a great activity for her to do to burn some energy each week, and oh was I right. She absolutely loves it!

Jay has always loved taking her so we would take turns. However, since about 33 weeks mommy has had to quit going. So Jay's mom (Poppi), Jay, and Jay's brother (Uncle Scott) have taken turns. Braylin got a kick out of Uncle Scott taking her 1 time -- I think she had a lot of fun showing off for him!

Here are a few pictures from last time that Jay took her. The lighting is not good in there, and I am far from learning how to use my camera in low light settings, so please ignore all of the blurs! :)

Happy Birthday Daddy

Celebrating Daddy's 31st birthday last weekend! Daddy and GG share the same birthday, so we had a great time having pizza & cake with Daddy at home, and then more birthday cake that evening at the hospital with GG. Braylin had so much fun singing Happy Birthday MULTIPLE times that day. :) I think we probably heard the song a million times.... it was so precious!

The things kids say....

Things that make us laugh....

Jay wearing t-shirt & jeans, and trying to dress Braylin for the day.
Jay: "Braylin, lets put on your pants so we can go play outside. Look, Daddy has his pants on."
Braylin: "Those aren't pants, Daddy. I call those jeans."

When we potty trained, we used 2 M&Ms as a reward for going on the potty. She knows all she gets is 2 every time. No more. Then last night she said this....
Braylin: "I tee-teed on the potty. I neeeeeeeeedddd (thinking about what she needs) 4 emmy-M's and 5 sweettarts. Yes, that's my good idea. And it's a gooooooodddddd idea Mommy"

Braylin: "Mommy, my baby dolls milk is empty. She needs more milk. Let's get some" (handing me the baby bottle and walking into the kitchen toward the refrigerator)
Mommy: "ok Braylin"
Braylin: "oh oh oh mommy, don't really open the bottle. Just pretend. We only pretend we are getting more"
Pretend??!!! I guess her imagination has taken flight. She loves to pretend we are changing the baby's diaper too.

Where do I begin...part 3

Ok, so I still need to post updates on the house, baby, the nursery, Braylin's room... oh my goodness I'm SO very behind!!! I absolutely LOVE reading everyone's blogs but I just am not good at my own! :)

Hopefully I can post some more this week! Where does all of our time go? LOL

Where do I begin...part 2

How about Braylin's 2 year old birthday party! Luckily the painters finished our living room 1 day prior to the party, which I must admit worked out pretty well considering the living room was free of all furniture which left a huge open room for a party!
We had a "Pancakes & Pajamas" party early on a Saturday morning -- had a great turnout, tons of fun, lots of sweets, and a spoiled rotten birthday girl (who I must add, refused to wear her bow, birthday hat, and/or adorable pj-matching butterfly slippers)! She had so much fun having her friends at her party!

Where do I begin....part 1

I guess I'll start with Christmas. Though Braylin was a little scared of Santa when up close and personal, so had a lot of fun this Christmas! She loved waving at Santa when we were out shopping, and she talked constantly of presents, baby Jesus, and Santa...but when it came time to sit on his knee, the tears began flowing. Had a great time with family though! Here are just a few pictures. I'm horrible about taking the time to post pictures...there are just WAY too many to choose from for Christmas!

Updates

I have been terrible about updating the blog! My apologies -- I honestly think everyone has given up on checking it since I'm always so behind! :) Here's a few things we've been up to...

Halloween with Emma, Taylor, and Bryce

Begging mommy to paint her toenails

Advanced to her big-girl bed! After daddy moved her nursery furniture to her little sister's room, Braylin got to see what it's like to have a big-girl's room! She was so excited to have a twin size bed, we haven't had ANY trouble getting her to sleep in it.

Thanksgiving at my parents'
We sure missed having GG & Gramps there but glad GG is coming home from the hospital tomorrow!

Things we've been up to...

Since both of Braylin's cousins were born 1 day apart, we had a weekend full of birthday parties!
Taylor's 1st Birthday
Trying to take pictures of Taylor with all of her cousins.
She was so glad Jack and Cooper's parents drove them in from the Dallas area for her party!
Bryce's 1st Birthday

Entertaining the girls in mommy's new bathroom while the guys are grilling.
Emma and Braylin were dying to try out "the big tub with jets"

Refusing to smile for the camera

And if you haven't already heard, Braylin is going to be having a little SISTER! Jay got his wish... another little girl. I guess God doesn't think we would know what to do with boys. :)

Playdate

Here are a few pictures from our playdate a few weeks ago. All of these pictures came from Gennan, and somehow we have no pictures of the birthday boy! Gennan's little boy CJ let us celebrate his special day with cake and ice cream. Had a great time!

A Day at the Zoo with Aunt Jen & Taylor
